The children in Lugu Area (3)
|
|
We didn't meet the kid. But I saw his father who has problem in legs. There is nothing in his home. I have never seen a family poor like this. But he still smiled because he is proud of his youngest son. Already lost one son (committed suicide because the family cannot afford him to go to the college after he got the admission letter), he decided to get money from the high-interest loan. We found a donator to help them. Good luck in the exam! I know the exam is a shit, but it is the only way for this family to get chance change their fortune.
I met this girl's younger sister several days ago. She also has a older brother. Without no parents, three of them live seperately now. Our organizaion supports all of them both in tuition and in living cost. They are very good students! This girl's dream is to go to Beijing to pursue her undergraduate study in geography. Good luck! Thank you for your letter~

A school in the moutain
The bell
We helped them find money to buy the windows for the classroom. All the windows are blue. We asked them if it will influence the brightness, the head of the school answered, don't worry, the quality is not good so the color will disappear very quickly...
The keyboards I brought from Shanghai. Donated by Xiao Bai. Gouxiong is cleaning them for the children. My concern is that if they have teachers to teach them how to use computers.
The classroom is very simple.
We were told that not every kid could get the allowance from the government. So they had to divide the money into same amount to make sure every kid have some.
Girls are so cuious about my digital camera. They are a little shy but are so excited to see themselves in the camera.

Children in Lugu Area (1)

Okay, after posting so many beautiful pictures of Lugu Lake, I would post some pictures that are not that pretty. But this is my real purpose of the trip. In this area, there are a lot of children who have no money to go to school. As an old volunteer of Yong Ning Aid for kids, I visited a primary school with Gou Xiong and Snoopy. What I saw astonished me even with preparation already. I tried hard to avoid my tears. Yes, at that moment, I really know that what we did is very meaningful.
The kids have their "lunch" here. Basicly they just warm the rice.
Their playground
Their dormitories with the donated quilts (Thanks those donators who sent the quilts to us)
The bell
The head of the school is dispatching the donated clothes to the kids. On the left side are Gou Xiong and Snoopy, our full-time volunteers.
If you want to know more about our organization and these poor children, please go to http://www.luguhu.org/ You could donate your money or your time (be a volunteer like me), or you could just care about them and give us good advice.

Lugu Lake (13)

I sat near the Youth Hotel, enjoying the quiet scene. Some horses were there eating grass. Su Qi was talking about the Ba Gua story of Da Ye. I asked myself, if I were him, how long could I stay here? Will I just enjoy the life here or miss the city life? I really don't know. But I strongly envy Su Qi. His life style is my dream.

The Grass Sea is so beautiful! The driver told us that the most beautiful season is spring and summer. Even now, without a lot of grass, it is great here.

One China--我爱你 不必人懂
|
|
Here is a very good video. Wonderful music and words.
www.youtube.com/watch/v/9qMMSXsn2Pk
Pround of you, Jin Jing!
Here is the story (in English) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ7hOgHkPhE
And to Amy and other friends: here is an article named "Friendly Feudalism: The Tibet Myth", for your reference. http://www.michaelparenti.org/Tibet.html " The wealth of the monasteries rested in the hands of small numbers of high-ranking lamas. The ordinary monks lived modestly and had no direct access to great wealth. The Dalai Lama himself “lived richly in the 1000-room, 14-story Potala Palace.Secular leaders also did well. A notable example was the commander-in-chief of the Tibetan army, a member of the Dalai Lama’s lay Cabinet, who owned 4,000 square kilometers of land and 3,500 serfs. 12 Old Tibet has been misrepresented by some Western admirers as “a nation that required no police force because its people voluntarily observed the laws of karma.” 13 In fact. it had a professional army, albeit a small one, that served mainly as a gendarmerie for the landlords to keep order, protect their property, and hunt down runaway serfs. "
